Wisconsin State LeagueSaturday Recap: Lombard Has a Grand Slam Saturday to Help Sweep Nationals

Lombard beat West Allis in both games Saturday, even hitting a grand slam in game two. Lombard holds first place in the Wisconsin State League and remains undefeated. Sheboygan and Addison split the day, each taking home a win.

Wisconsin State League

Game 1: Lombard Orioles 6, West Allis Nationals 2

WEST ALLIS, WI – Lombard took a 2-0 lead over West Allis in the fifth inning in game one on Saturday.

West Allis tried hard to keep in the game and scored two runs in the sixth.

Johnny Keane drove in the two runs with a single to tie the game for West Allis.

Lombard took the game in the fourth though scoring four runs, ensuring the win.

Tom Stark took the loss for the Nationals pitching six and one-third innings, allowing four runs, eight hits and striking out eight.

Jack Landwehr earned the win for the Orioles pitching one and one-third innings, striking out two.

John Carmody led the Orioles with three hits in four at bats.

The final score of game one was Lombard 6, West Allis 2.

Game 1: Lombard Orioles 10, West Allis Nationals 0

WEST ALLIS, WI – Lombard served West Allis a beating in game two on Saturday, winning in five innings.

The big inning for the Orioles was the third where seven runs were scored.

John Carmody hit a grand slam and Tom Norton hit a triple.

Kyle Pauly earned the win for Lombard Orioles pitching four innings, striking out five.

Kanyon Fellers took the loss for West Allis Nationals pitching two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs, four hits and striking out three.

The final score of game two was Lombard 10, West Allis 0.

Game 1: Addison Braves 1, Sheboygan A’s 0

ADDISON, IL – Strong pitching from both teams resulted in a close, low scoring game one on Saturday.

Chris Wido, of the Addison Braves, did not allow a single run, struck out one and gave up just five hits to earn the win for the Braves.

In the bottom of the third inning the Braves scored the only run of the game.

John VanderPloeg took the loss for the Sheboygan A’s pitching five innings, striking out two and allowing one run.

The final score of game one was Addison 1, Sheboygan 0.

Game 2: Sheboygan A’s 6, Addison Braves 5

ADDISON, IL – Game two between Addison and Sheboygan proved to be a duel, passing the lead back-and-forth.

Sheboygan scored one in the top of the first, but Addison answered back with two runs of their own.

In the fourth inning the game was tied up at four apiece.

The A’s ended up winning the nail biter in the seventh scoring two more runs, but the Braves didn’t give up the fight scoring a run of their own.

The final score of game two was Sheboygan A’s 6, Addison Braves 5.

The doubleheader between the Kenosha Kings and Oshkosh Giants was cancelled.
