Tuesday Recap: Braves Get Win Over League-Leading Orioles

Despite a 5-run deficit in the third inning, the Lombard Orioles almost came all the way back, eventually falling 5-4 to Addison Braves on Tuesday, leaving two runners on base as the final out was made.

Despite a 5-run deficit in the third inning, the Lombard Orioles almost came all the way back, eventually falling 5-4 to Addison Braves on Tuesday, leaving two runners on base as the final out was made.

Lombard couldn’t keep up with Addison early in the game. Addison took the lead on a Chris Wido RBI single on a 1-0 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

The Braves padded their lead with four runs in the third inning. The big inning for Addison Braves came thanks to a walk by Wido and a double by Mike Rostine.

The Orioles scored four runs in the failed comeback attempt on a single by Dylan Gilberts in the fourth, a home run by John Carmody in the eighth, and a RBI double by Mike Mateja in the ninth.

Eric Ryan earned the win for Addison Braves. He went seven and a third innings, giving up three runs, nine hits, and striking out five. Michael Mulder threw one inning, as two relievers helped Addison finish off the victory. Mulder recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Addison. Jack Snider took the loss for Lombard. He pitched four innings, surrendering five runs, six hits, and striking out four.

Lombard collected ten hits. Jeremy Quade and Mike Mateja each collected multiple hits for the Orioles.

Rostine went 1-for-4 at the plate as he led the Braves with three runs batted in.
