Sheboygan and Lombard defeat Burlington and Kenosha in their respective double headers

Burlington forfeits giving Sheboygan 2 free wins, and Lombard blow out Kenosha in double headers.

Sheboygan A’s 5 – 1 Burlington Barons, Sheboygan A’s 5 – 4 Burlington Barons

The Sheboygan A’s defeated The Burlington Barons 5-1 in the first game Sunday. The Barons got things moving in the first inning when Mikey Pilizzi hit a solo homer. The A’s tied the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when an error scored them one run. Sheboygan pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning when Mark Wanner grounded out, scoring one run and Harry Steldt drew a walk, scoring one run.

Elliot Danhoff got the win for The A’s. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out nine. Kyle Peterson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Peterson recorded the last six outs to earn the save for The A’s.

The A’s and The Barons played to a 4-4 tie in the second game Sunday. The A’s tied the game on a double in the sixth inning. Sheboygan captured the lead in the second inning when they scored one run when Brad Rindfleisch singled. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Sheboygan tied things up at four. Ben Folger drove in one when he doubled.

After Burlington scored one run in the top of the third, Sheboygan answered with one of their own. Burlington scored when Zach Paczocha grounded out, scoring one run. Sheboygan then answered when Jimmy Juergensen singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Sheboygan got the win due to a forfeit.

Lombard Orioles 10 – 0 Kenosha Kings, Lombard Orioles 9 – 0 Kenosha Kings

Austin Polezoes didn’t allow a single run as Lombard Orioles defeated Kenosha Kings 10-0 in the first game Sunday. Polezoes allowed just four hits. Lombard tallied five runs in the second inning. Kevin Mampe, John Carmody, and Dylan Gilbert each drove in runs during the inning.

Polezoes earned the victory on the hill for Lombard. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out six and walking zero. Lombard smacked one home run on the day. Carmody had a long ball in the second inning. Lombard Orioles totaled 11 hits in the game. Mampe, Fitzgerald, Keith Kerrigan, and Ryan Hampe each racked up multiple hits for Lombard Orioles. Hampe, Kerrigan, Fitzgerald, and Mampe each collected two hits to lead Lombard Orioles.

Lombard defeated Kenosha 9-0 in the second Sunday as four pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Pete Hamot induced a fly out from Alex Letto to finish off the game.

In the first inning, Lombard  got their offense started when KC Simonich grounded out, scoring one run. Lombard tallied four runs in the third inning. Simonich and Jake Zylman each had RBIs in the frame.
Andrew Zapka earned the victory on the mound for Lombard. He lasted three innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero. Hamot, Jack Bellinger, and Alex Sroka all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
