WSL Weekend Roundup: Seven WSL Games Played This Weekend

Seven WSL games were played over the weekend, with the Kenosha Kings and West Allis Nationals each getting two important wins, and the Sheboygan A's sweeping the weekend from the Addison Braves.

Wisconsin State League

Kenosha Kings 10, 9, Oshkosh Giants 1, 0

The Kenosha Kings swept the Oshkosh Giants, 10-1 and 9-0, in a Wisconsin State League doubleheader on Saturday at EJ Schneider Field in Oshkosh.

In the opener, Kenosha’s Ben Miller allowed one run on six hits in six innings to get the win, and Brandon Jeffery pitched a scoreless seventh.

Paul Pulera, Mike Szeszol and Mike Dickerson each drove in two runs.

In Game 2, Kenosha’s Kyle Cibrario, a Carthage senior-to-be, pitched a seven-inning complete game and his second two-hitter in a row.

The Kings stole five bases and tallied six hits – two apiece from Mark Cibrario, JT Schneider (three RBI) and Kyle Jones – and capitalized on five Oshkosh errors.

Sheboygan A’s 8, 9, 9, Addison Braves 2, 7, 3

On Saturday the Sheboygan A’s beat the Addison Braves 8-2. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out.

Derek Loomans pitched a complete game 4-hitter. Blake Fleischman hit a home run and everybody in the A’s line-up got a base hit.

The A’s won a doubleheader on Sunday, 9-7 and 9-3.

Adam Ryan emerged as the hero of the first game. The outfielder was upon for his first outing on the mound with the A’s leading 9-7 in the last inning with nobody out and the bases full of Braves. He enticed three straight popups to save the win. Ben Gordon had three hits and catcher Taylor Grimm threw out four would-be base stealers in the game.

Brandon Winfield went the route for the win in game two. Dylan Detert, Harry Steldt and Grimm all had two hits in game.

West Allis Nationals 4, 12, Oshkosh Giants 3, 1

The Oshkosh Giants were swept in a doubleheader on Sunday, losing to the West Allis Nationals 4-3 in eight innings in the opener and then dropping the nightcap, 12-1,

Jeremy McCarty had three hits in the opener, while Paul Mutch and Brandon Schilling each finished with two for the Giants, who saw the Nationals tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and then win it in the eight.

The Giants managed only three hits in the second game.

West Bend 7 Up 13, Merton 1

After last week’s loss at the Monches, the West Bend 7 Up knew that if they were to keep up with the undefeated Pewaukee Muskies, that this was a must win game.

Merton coming off two walkoff losses in the past two Saturday’s were hoping that this Sunday wasn’t a repeat of last Sunday.

Standing in Merton’s way of changing fortunes was West Bend starting pitcher Tyler Adams. Adams was brilliant for West Bend, going six innings, giving no runs on only two hits.

Adam Rohlinger led the way offensively for West Bend with four hits. Casey Krohn and Matt Parrent had three hits, and Taylor Koth and Jed Justman had multiple hit games for West Bend.
