WSL Thursday Recap: Giants Rally to Knock Off Nationals

The Oshkosh Giants rallied to tie the score in the ninth inning and then won it in the 10th, securing a 10-9 win over the West Allis Nationals in a Wisconsin State League baseball game at E.J. Schneider Field on Thursday night.

The Oshkosh Giants rallied to tie the score in the ninth inning and then won it in the 10th, securing a 10-9 win over the West Allis

The Giants scored three runs in the ninth
to send the game into extra innings where Paul Mutch blasted a solo
home run in the 10th for the Giants.

Colton Demerritt went 3-for-3
and drove in two runs, while Mutch, Luke Gajewski, Robbie Kleman and
Michael Becker each chipped in two hits. Becker also scored three runs
in the game.

Drew Connors picked up the win in relief for the Giants.

Appleton Legends 8, Sheboygan A’s 5

The Sheboygan A’s couldn’t take advantage of a number of opportunities and fell Thursday night to Appleton 8-5.

Dylan
Detert led off the game with a home run and TJ McCoy hit a two-run home
run in his 2015 debut with the A’s to spark a 3-run third inning and
push the A’s to a 5-0 lead over the Appleton Legends.

Painfully for A’s fans, Appleton put seven hits together in the fourth inning to take a 6-5 lead.

The
A’s squandered 13 hits, six walks and two hit batters, leaving a total
of 15 runners on base, nine of them in scoring position.

McCoy had
three hits to lead the A’s and Blake Fleischman, Taylor Grimm and Nate
Heili all had two. Brandon Winfield suffered the loss.
