Bob Beelen throws a no-hitter as Lombard sweeps De Pere by scores of 8-6 and 8-0.

Lombard Orioles 8, 6, De Pere Dodgers 6, 0

The Lombard Orioles outlasted the De Pere Dodgers on Saturday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 8-6 win in game one of a Saturday doubleheader.

The Orioles pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. A sacrifice fly by Hunter Fiorlto scored Dave Burnside and gave the Lombard Orioles the lead for good.

Shawn Dunne went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for Lombard. He singled in the second and third innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Jake Esh had an impressive outing against the De Pere Dodgers’ lineup. The Dodgers managed just two hits off of the the Lombard Orioles’ pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

Zach Abfall racked up two RBIs on two hits for the De Pere. He singled in the second and fifth innings.

The bottom of the first saw the De Pere Dodgers take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Sam Kohnle, scoring Abfall and Joe Baier started the inning off.

De Pere tied the game in the fifth on a two-run single by Abfall that scored Taylor Noe and Alex Loberger.

A no-hitter was the story of game two, as Bob Beelen led the Lombard Orioles’ to an 8-0 victory over De Pere.

No De Pere Dodgers batter was able to locate Beelen’s pitches during the game. Beelen threw a no-hitter, striking out seven batters and walking six while recording his momentous feat. He got Zach Abfall to ground out for the final out of the game.

The Orioles racked up 10 hits, including four extra base hits. Lombard scored three runs in the sixth on a groundout by Quincy Jones, a bases loaded walk by Jeremy Quade, and a walk by Mike Matia.

Cody Myscowski did his best to jumpstart the offense for Lombard, reaching base three times. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
