WSL Wednesday Recap: A’s Offense Erupts for 14 Runs in Victory Over the Giants

The Sheboygan A's continued to pile up the runs on Wednesday, scoring four runs in the seventh inning, on the way to a 14-4 landslide win over the Oshkosh Giants.

The Sheboygan A’s continued to pile up the runs on Wednesday, scoring four runs in the seventh inning, on the way to a 14-4 landslide win over the Oshkosh Giants.

The A’s scored six runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Dylan Detert, an error, a fielder’s choice, an RBI single by Mitchell Sutton, and a two-run single by Harry Steldt.

Wyatt Olson racked up three RBIs on three hits for the A’s.

Ben Stanczyk baffled the Giants, striking out seven batters. Stanczyk allowed no earned runs on three hits and one walk over five innings.

The Giants were hurt by a number of miscues in the field. The Giants committed four errors which led to four unearned runs for Sheboygan A’s.

The A’s never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring three runs on a two-run home run by Taylor Grimm and an RBI single by Steldt.

Lombard Orioles 11, 0, Joliet Dirtbags 8, 5

Scoreboard operators were busy on Wednesday as the Lombard Orioles and Joliet Dirtbags combined for 19 runs in game one of a double header. The Orioles eventually won the offensive battle 11-8 in seven innings.

The teams totaled 21 hits, including seven extra base hits in the game.

Ron Sessler racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Orioles. He homered in the third inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Alex Troop got the win allowing two runs over four innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Joliet jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a solo home run. The Orioles didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the third inning when they scored on a three-run home run by Sessler.

After a quick strike from Joliet, the Orioles responded with seven runs in the fourth, scoring on a two-run single by Matt Hoge, an RBI single by Sessler, a two-run double by Gehrig Parker, a groundout by Quincy Jones, and an RBI single by Zach Parker.

In game two, Brandon Nowak held up his end of the bargain, but the Orioles lost 5-0 in seven innings.

Nowak baffled the Dirtbags hitters, striking out 11 batters. He allowed one earned run, three hits and four walks over five innings.
