Standings Shuffle After Busy Day in WSL

The Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons were unable to earn a victory in either of the two back-to-back games they played against the Burlington Barons with final scores of 4-1 and 9-3. In game one, Burlington scored in the first inning on a double hit by Ben Siekierski and a single by Ben LaRonge which gave them a lead they never lost. Green Bay didn’t score their only run for the afternoon until the sixth inning when Jake Berg hit a RBI double that scored Sam Kohnle. Similar to the first game, Burlington scored immediately in the first inning of the second game, putting four runs on the board which allowed them to maintain their lead throughout the game. Green Bay’s inability to stop the Baron’s offense ultimately led to their third consecutive loss to Burlington.

West Allis Nationals 8, Lombard Orioles 3

A split doubleheader between the Lombard Orioles and West Allis Nationals resulted in final scores of 10-3 Lombard, and 8-3 West Allis. All three of West Allis’ runs in game one were scored in the third inning. Lombard pulled ahead for good in the fourth inning when Jackson Gray hit a 2-run home run, and Jacob Campbell and Andy Nelson both hit RBI singles. In game two the Nationals came back with an urgency to put runs on the board, Griffin Doershing homered in the first inning and all eight of the teams’ runs were scored in the first, second and third innings. Robert Coe earned the win for West Allis Nationals, Antonio Valadez and Josiah Roundtree entered to help close out the game in relief. Drew Clavenna took the loss for the Lombard Orioles.

The Sheboygan A’s swept the Addison Braves, shutting them out in game one 1-0 and defeating them 9-2 in the second game. Pitching showed to be very strong on both teams during game one, Eric Schmitz pitched for Sheboygan and let up zero runs and five hits, and Zack Jones pitched for Addison allowing one run and six hits. The only run scored was in the fourth inning when Jimmy Juergensen hit a RBI single. Another win over the Braves was locked in for the A’s when they had a six-run fifth inning. Jared Reklaitis earned the win for Sheboygan A’s and Chris Wido took the loss for Addison. Sheboygan totaled nine hits in the game to match their nine runs, and Addison was right behind with eight hits but only two runs which led to their second loss.
